Well, it looks like the devastation in Haiti will now be followed by devastation in Chile. There was an earthquake and dangerous Tsunami's on Saturday in Chile. I have grabbed a video to share this experience with all of the readers here and let you know that you can donate $10 to the help the relief efforts by texting "Chile" to 90999. For the full story and insightful information into this disaster take a look here. Also, yesterday the New York Times reported on the most recent earthquake in Chile. they stated that more than 1.5 million people have been displaced. As of yesterday, Chile's government has not requested assistance from the U.S. though it has been offered. This earthquake is not of the same caliber as the one that hit Haiti. However, any eartquake can be devastating to a society. So, as much as people came out to help Haiti, hopefully there will be many kind souls that will chip in to help Chile. There may be other quakes to follow this one in Chile and surrounding areas. So let's all keep our radar up and be aware so that we can help in any way we can.
 The 2010 Winter Olympics were well underway and the entire world was watching. The U.S. led the pack with a total of 37 medals, followed by Germany with 30 medals and Canada with 26. It was an amazing Olympics this year, in spite of the tragic death at the onset of the games. Canada did a wonderful job hosting the event, and all of the participating countries did an amazing job as well. There was a lot of coverage for this event and there are some great videos below for any of you that may have missed the event. So take a look and don't forget to leave some feedback on the turnout of events at the Olympics this year! (We have also added a video of the Festival that was held in Vancouver in honor of the Olympics. It was pretty amazing!)  I love all kinds of animals and birds are no exception. There is a lot of information available online telling us how to attract specific types of birds. I came across a great article with information on different types of birds, as well as the flowers needed to attract them. Another little tidbit: Berry bushes are perfect to attract many different types of birds. If you would like to know more just click here.  It was recently proposed to me that Health Insurance should be 100% non-profit. Although on the surface this may appear to be logical, in reality, in my opinion, it would have a negative impact on our Healthcare... Healthcare costs have gotten out of control in this country. It is a better idea at this point to have a politician correcting the industry. That being said, in a free market there has to be some incentive for people to want to go into an industry--including healthcare. Doctors have the worst hours, cranky patients, high malpractice insurance, so their compensation should reflect such, not to mention the skills that they have worked years to gain. And, do not forget, one mistake, or slip of the tongue and their entire career can be over, in an instant! If this industry was 100% non-profit, the quality of our healthcare would eventually plummet. Noone would want to enter the medical field and the people who did would not be paid according to their work or skills. The entire issue, in my opinion lies at the feet of the insurance companies themselves. And in some states it is not very bad at all. The Northeast does not seem to have as many issues with their health insurance as some other parts of the country. Hence, a politician is needed to put the insurance companies, or their employees that are behaving immorally or unethically, back on track. Then everyone in this country will have fair health insurance...
